WNBA's Connecticut Sun Partners with BlueForge Alliance to Promote BuildSubmarines.com

April 15, 2024

Uncasville,CT (April 15, 2024) - Today, the Connecticut Sun announced its partnership with BlueForge Alliance (BFA) to focus on promoting career opportunities across the nation’s Submarine Industrial Base (SIB), reinvigorating America’s manufacturing workforce; and as a national call-to-action with BuildSubmarines.com.

As the first “Official Free Throw Circle Sponsor” of the Connecticut Sun, BFA – who serves a critical non-profit partner and integrator in the U.S. Navy’s efforts to stabilize and scale the defense manufacturing workforce – will increase awareness around the stable, family-sustaining career opportunities in the New England region while also highlighting the contributions of skilled tradeswomen already serving in the defense manufacturing workforce.

“Sun fans are known to bring plenty of energy to Mohegan Sun Arena each and every game,” said Kiley Wren, chief executive and co-founder, BlueForge Alliance. “Companies across Connecticut and New England are looking for that same energy in individuals with professional aspirations as big as the game of basketball. We’re proud to showcase these meaningful family-sustaining careers across a region filled with maritime and defense manufacturing, and we appreciate the opportunity to team up with a tremendous franchise in the Connecticut Sun to make that possible.”

Throughout the 2024 season, BFA will aid the Connecticut Sun in its community efforts, most notably serving as the presenting partner of the Connecticut Sun's Game-Action Give Back initiative "Free Throws for Change." For every free throw made during the 2024season, BFA will donate $10 to Girls for Technology, a non-profit that develops innovative programs created to mobilize women of color, improve economic mobility, and catalyze systems of change by providing the entrepreneurial training that sparks innovation to foster connection.

In addition to sponsoring "Free Throws for Change," BFA will also be the presenting sponsor of a STEM career fair experience on the Mohegan Sun Arena concourse, and a pregame networking platform honoring women leaders during the Sun's Women of Inspiration Night on August 23.

"We are eagerly anticipating this partnership with BlueForge Alliance promoting BuildSubmarines.com for the 2024 season. Partnering with an organization that recognizes and champions strong women in the workforce is a cause that is near and dear to us," commented Morgan Tuck, Connecticut Sun Director of Franchise Development and Assistant General Manager.
